On September 1, 1999 The Kirby made her second debut
with much fanfare in a grand reopening party as elegant and vibrant as the era in which
she first opened. Approximately 750 guests including residents and local and
regional VIPs were met with red capet leading from Main Street up to The Kirby's Late
Gothic entrance. And awaiting them within The Old Girl was live jazz music, food by
Wendy Krispin Catering and models in historic costumes offering prizes for correctly
answered historic trivia questions.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Mayor Ron Kirk joined
Chairman of Hall Financial Group, Craig Hall, and his wife, Ambassador Kathryn Hall in
toasting "The Old Girl". Guests were able to tour the building, including
