The historic building, both in date and design, stands amidst the
bustling center of Dallas metropolitan life. It is no surprise that the original
designer of the office building chose Gothic architecture for its downtown setting as the
Gothic period reflected a shift from rural to urban culture.

| From The Kirby, there is a clear view of
the striking Fountain Place building. Noteworthy for its terraced landscaping and
water fountains, the Fountain Place also adds a sleek, contemporary look to the Dallas
skyline. |
Another view from
The Kirby
includes the Mercantile Building, a once-renowned center of business and finance in the
metroplex. |

| Pegasus Plaza is situated across the street
from The Kirby, on Main. While the flying horse rises above the building, trees and
a few small pools of water rest below as a welcome addition to the downtown setting. |
| The Kirby was built as a
retail counterpart to its big brother, the Adolphus Hotel, pictured here. The
Adolphus was completed in 1912 and considered the hotel of
luxury hotels. |
