How big are the apartments and lofts?
Studios begin at 510 square feet and two bedroom units go up to 1500 square feet.
There is one penthouse at 2500 square feet.
What is the difference between the apartments and lofts?
Lofts have no walls delineating bedrooms from living spacesthey are open spaces,
but still have kitchens and separated bathrooms. Apartments have traditional walls and
doors around bedroom areas.
How finished or unfinished are the lofts and apartments?
The walls are painted, and rough existing ceilings have been painted. Most have solid
maple floors that have been sanded to like-new condition. The ductwork is exposed and
painted. New kitchens, bathrooms, lighting and ceiling fans have been installed.
Its an old building. How can I be sure it will keep up with
the turn-of-the-millennium pace of life?
The Kirby has all new state-of-the-art systems, including new telephone wiring, with
multiple lines per unit, cabling for high-speed Internet access and built-in alarm
systems.
Is it convenient to grocery shopping and other retail needs?
Downtown is quickly adding retail to its Main Street. The Kirby will have a convenience
store for emergency type needs. Major grocery shopping is available, by car, on McKinney
Ave., Cedar Springs or Ross Ave. Groceries can also be ordered and delivered.
What kind of public transportation is nearby?
DART light rail is one block away. Buses and trolley buses pick up at the front door.
Is parking available for guests and myself?
A new 210-garage structure was built for residents of The Kirby. Both street
parking and surrounding garages are available for guests to The Kirby.
What kind of security is available?
Each unit is wired with its own built-in alarm system, which is activated at the
option of the tenant. The building has closed circuit cameras at entryways and in the
laundry room that may be viewed by the tenants on their cable TV in order to screen
visitors or activities.
Is there an Internet service?
Yes. The building is wired for high-speed internet access. CoServ
Broadband provides "Lightning" service featuring unlimited Internet
access, a service that does not tie-up your phone line, a free personal web page and
speeds up to 45 times faster than a 28K dial-up account.
Will we be able to have cable TV at The Kirby?
Yes. The Kirby offers AT&T
digital.
Are pets allowed to live in The Kirby Building? If so, what is
the deposit and policy regarding pets?
Pets weighing less than 30 pounds are accepted with a $500 deposit.
Are laundry facilities available?
Full laundry facilities are located on the fourth floor.
What exercise facilities are available?
An on-site fitness center is located on the third floor. Busybody is furnishing
state-of-the-art equipment including two treadmills, two stationary bicycles, weight
machines and free weights.
What equipment is available for tenant use in the business
center?
The Business Center is located on the first floor and equipped with computer with
Internet access, fax machine and photocopier.
Is there a freight elevator?
There is one freight elevator that can be scheduled for each residents
move-in. It is 65" wide, 54" deep (from door to back wall) and 8' tall.
What kind of storage is available to residents of The Kirby and

Storage is located in the basement starting at $15.00 per month for a 5' x 5' space. |
